GCU returns from holidays to take on Sun Devils

Lopes will compete in Tempe for 2nd time this season
The Grand Canyon swimming teams are set for a crosstown dual with the Sun Devils of Arizona State.

The Lopes are coming off a holiday break, nearing a month since they dominated a home meet against Ottawa and Arizona Christian.

GCU has only faced ASU three times prior to Saturday morning's matchup. The Lopes most recently faced the Sun Devils in the inaugural Division I Arizona quad meet against Arizona, Northern Arizona and host Arizona State on Oct. 12, when the Sun Devils won the men's and women's side.Â
The Lopes will look to build on a strong start to the season as the momentum starts to turn toward the WAC Championships in late February. Earlier this season, the men placed first in the Purdue Invitational to set a strong tone.Â

Saturday's meet will take place at ASU's Mona Plummer Aquatic Center and start at noon.Â
The meet order will be the following:Â

- 1,650 freestyle
- 200 freestyle
- 100 backstroke
- 100 breaststroke
- 200 butterfly
- 50 freestyle
- 100 freestyle
- 200 backstroke
- 200 breaststroke
- 500 freestyle
- 100 butterfly
- 400 individual medley
- 400 breestyle relay
- 1- and 3-meter diving will run concurrently with swimming events
