WAC field goal percentage leader
Laura Erikstrup of Grand Canyon earned her third conference Player of the Week award.
Â

Erikstrup, a graduate forward, was named WAC Player of the Week for the third time in the past six weeks. No other player has won the accolade three times this season.
Â
Erikstrup averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals while shooting 57% from the floor and 77% from the free throw line in two come-from-behind Lopes victories last week. She helped guide a second-half comeback over Abilene Christian on Thursday with 18 points, 13 rebounds and two steals for her fifth double-double of the season and second in WAC play.
Â
The 6-foot-2 forward from Portland, Oregon, scored a team-high 20 points while knocking down 10 of 14 free throws and adding five rebounds in GCU's Saturday win at Tarleton State. Erikstrup was clutch down the stretch from the free throw line, making all 10 in the second half and going 6 of 6 in the third quarter to rally the Lopes and extend their winning streak to 15 games. It is the nation's third-longest active winning streak.
Â
Erikstrup is having a career year, averaging 15.8 points (third in WAC) and 7.2 rebounds (fourth in WAC). She leads the conference and ranks 13th nationally with 60.5% shooting from the field. Her 301 points is second most in the WAC with 124 made field goals, a WAC high.
Â
GCU returns home for two games this week, beginning Thursday versus Southern Utah at 6 p.m. at Global Credit Union Arena.
