GCU looks to follow up pair of sweep wins at last year's event

The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team prepares to compete against in the third straight year of the Big West/WAC Challenge.

GCU ranks 11th in the nation in blocks with 98.5 after notching 18 on Sunday for a Division I-era program best.
Senior outside hitter Ashley Lifgren returned to action in the GCU Classic, putting up 2.77 kills/set on .313 hitting through 13 sets. She had 15 kills and five blocks in Saturday's five-set victory against Butler.
Freshman setter Taylor Kubacak averaged 8.31 assists/set and 2.69 digs/set in 13 sets through three weekend matches of the GCU Classic.

Senior middle blocker Trista Strasser hit .333 in the sweep against the Titans last year.
Outside hitter Anaelena Ramirez had nine kills on .350 hitting against the Anteaters in the second sweep of last year's event for the Lopes.
The Lopes have 1-1 records in this event against each participant, with both wins against UC Irvine and Fullerton coming last season.
