The WAC basketball schedule will turn conventional in format and start date for the upcoming season, sticking to a format of playing conference games on Thursdays and Saturdays and reverting to a January start date.

With membership reduced from 11 programs to nine, the WAC unveiled 18-game, round-robin basketball schedules for the GCU men's and women's teams' final season in the conference. The Lopes will compete in the West Coast Conference in 2025-26.
The WAC maintained last season's scheduling return to consistency and removed last season's early conference start that had teams playing WAC games on Nov. 29 and Dec. 2.
Instead, WAC play will begin Jan. 4 for all teams except Utah Tech. The GCU men will open conference action at home against Southern Utah on that Saturday, when the Lopes women will travel to Cedar City, Utah. Their schedules keep the same opponent with opposite sites throughout the season.
The conference schedule will include three idle dates for each member with GCU having one on the third night of WAC games (Jan. 11) and two in February (Feb. 6 and 20).
The latter idle dates create a stretch in which the GCU men will go three weeks between home games (Feb. 1 vs. Utah Valley and Feb. 22 vs. California Baptist). During that time, the Lopes women will not have a road trip for three weeks.
The GCU men will make their first two-game WAC road trip on Jan. 23-25 at Southern Utah and Utah Tech. It has a a stretch of three consecutive conference road games (Feb. 8 at California Baptist, Feb. 13 at Tarleton State and Feb. 15 at UT Arlington) that are surrounded by idle dates on Feb. 6 and 20.
The Lopes men's quest to defend their regular-season title will finish at Abilene Christian on March 8, two days after the season's regular-season home finale against Utah Tech.
The GCU women will play three of their first four WAC games on the road, including a trip to Abilene Christian (Jan. 16) and Tarleton State (Jan. 18). They will not face defending conference champion California Baptist until Feb. 8, when the Lancers come to Global Credit Union Arena in the conference season's ninth game.
CBU and GCU, who finished one-two in the WAC women's race last year, will meet against two weeks later in Riverside, California, on Feb. 22. The Lopes women will wrap up the regular season at home vs. Abilene Christian on March 8.
Conference teams will head to Las Vegas for the WAC Tournament, which will crown champions with automatic NCAA tournament berths on March 15 at Orleans Arena.
The WAC was one of nine conferences last season to play 20 games, most in the nation. There were eight conferences that played 16-game schedules last season and two (Ivy League and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with 14-game schedules.
