The 19th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is home Saturday and Sunday to compete in four matches and celebrates its four seniors. On Friday, the Lopes will face UTEP (2 p.m.) and Arizona Christian (4 p.m.) Saturday before Sunday begins with a Central Arkansas match (10 a.m.) before playing UTEP (2 p.m.) again for the Senior Day match. This will mark the final home match of the season for GCU.
Scouting UTEP
- UTEP holds a 10-9 record this season, with its last match resulting in a 3-2 loss to Texas.
- The Lopes have never previously played against UTEP.
Scouting Arizona Christian
- ACU holds a 13-10 record this season, with its last match resulting in a 3-2 win against crosstown foe Ottawa.
- The Lopes are 3-0 all-time against ACU with the last win coming in the form of a sweep at the beginning of this season.
Scouting Central Arkansas
- UCA is 6-17 this season but is riding a two-match win streak.
- The Lopes only have met the Bears once, a 3-2 win in 2018 in New Orleans.
What's next?
Following the Canyon Classic, GCU will head to Hawaii for matches against the Rainbow Warriors as well as Chaminade and Portland.
