GCU celebrates Senior Day on Saturday

The Grand Canyon softball team clinched its fourth WAC regular-season title last weekend against Stephen F. Austin, posting its first three-game shutout series in program history. The Lopes head to Tucson on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (Phoenix time) to take on No. 18 Arizona before hosting their final WAC series of the regular season against Abilene Christian on Friday and Saturday. GCU will celebrate its 10 seniors: Ashley Trierweiler, Ariel Thompson, Katelyn Dunckel, Mikaela Payne, Kristin Fifield, Kayla Rodgers, Kaitlyn Brannstrom, Hailey Hudson, Ramsay Lopez, Megan Schumacher and Makaiya Gomez after the series finale on Saturday.

The Lopes have defeated every conference opponent they've encountered this season, carrying a 1-1 record against ranked opponents this season and a 2-3 record against Pac-12 teams this year.
Graduate first baseman Ashley Trierweiler leads the nation in hits (79) and ranks in the national top five for batting average (No. 4, .459) this season.
GCU also holds top-10 rankings in batting average (No. 10, .338), scoring (No. 10, 6.86), doubles (No. 5, 87) and on-base percentage (No. 10, .415).

The Wildcats are 23-6 at home this season and a carry a 13-0 historical record against the Lopes.
Arizona defeated Oregon, who was ranked 22nd in the NCAA on April 12-14, in a three-game series (W, 7-5 | L, 2-5 | W, 3-2 (8 inns.)), while GCU dropped a game against the No. 20 ranked Oregon on April 10 (L, 4-9).
UA is batting .329 with a team ERA of 3.74 this year.

ACU has only won one WAC series this season (SFA, April 12-13).
Abilene Christian currently stands eighth in the WAC and is on a three-game losing streak after being swept by California Baptist, the second-best team in the conference.
The Wildcats are batting .285 with a team ERA of 5.38 this year.
