HONOLULU — The 19th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is on the road Saturday and Sunday to compete in four matches in Hawaii. On Saturday, the Lopes will face Hawaii (noon Phoenix time) and Chaminade (6 p.m.) before Sunday begins with a Portland match (3 p.m.) and ends under the lights for a rematch with Hawaii (9:30 p.m.) on its Senior Night. This will mark GCU's first night match of the season and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Scouting Hawaii
- The last two matches between the Lopes and Rainbow Warriors resulted in 3-2 victories for GCU in 2022.
- Hawaii currently ranks No.12 in the nation with a record of 16-11.
Scouting Portland
- Currently 8-8 with a most recent 4-1 loss to Santa Clara.
- The Lopes have only matched up against Portland once back in 2017, when GCU won with a 5-0 sweep.
Scouting Chaminade
- The Silverswords are currently 3-6 with all three wins coming against Hawaii Pacific.
- This will mark the first match between GCU and Chaminade.
What's next?
Following the four matches in Hawaii, the Lopes will head to Stanford for matches against California, Stanford, Washington and UC Davis.
