Slight earns MPSF offensive honors

GCU setter collects second weekly honor of the season
For the second time this season, junior setter Nicholas Slight was earned Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekly honors.
Slight led the Lopes with 10.50 assists in a pair of home sweeps over No. 8 Stanford to earn MPSF Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.
Slight, a Storm Lake, Iowa native, earned weekly defensive honors in the first week of the season but this week leaned on his offense. The GCU setter collected 63 assists in six sets and guided the team offense to a .324 hitting percentage in the two wins.
The GCU redshirt junior has been near the top of the national leaderboards all season when it comes to assists. Slight leads the MPSF and ranks third in the country with 10.69 assists per set and his 524 total assists is a top-15 mark this season.
Slight and the Lopes will be on the road this weekend with three matches at the Outrigger Invitational in Honolulu. The No. 1 Lopes will face No. 5 UC Irvine, No. 3 Hawaii and No. 14 Lewis with three matches in four days from March 7-10.
