Lopes take final trip before 2-week homestand

The 18th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team is in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday and Sunday to compete in two top-20 matchups. The Lopes face off against No. 8 LSU (6:30 a.m. Phoenix time) and South Carolina (9 a.m.) on Saturday and then play No. 5 Florida State (7:15 a.m.) and Jacksonville (noon) on Sunday.

Scouting No. 8 LSU

LSU holds a 10-3 record this season, with its last two matches resulting in a 3-2 win against Loyola Marymount and a 4-1 loss to Hawai'I in Manhattan Beach.
Ranked No.8, the Tigers started the season ranked No.6.
The Lopes won the teams' last meeting 3-2 last year.

Scouting South Carolina

The Gamecocks are 10-6 with three consecutive wins.
The Lopes have won the last two matchups, 3-2 (2020) and 3-0 (2023).

Scouting No. 5 Florida State

FSU has started the season 15-2 with losses coming to California and UCLA.
The Lopes have not faced the Seminoles in Tallahassee since a 3-2 loss in 2017.

Scouting Jacksonville

The Dolphins are 8-10 with a 5-4 neutral record this season.
The Lopes hhave only played Jacksonville once, a 2017 matchup that GCU won 5-0.

What's next?

Following the CCSA Mid-season Tournament, the Lopes will host two straight weekends in Phoenix with matches that include Arizona and Arizona State.
