Thorne takes 2nd straight MPSF Defensive Award

GCU sophomore recorded 10 blocks in 2-match sweep of NJIT
For the second straight week and third time this season, Grand Canyon middle blocker Cameron Thorne was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Defensive Player of the Week.
The GCU sophomore showed his skill by finishing the weekend with 10 blocks and an attack percentage of .667 in two home match victories against NJIT. Thorne averaged a team-high 1.25 blocks per set in eight sets played. Thorne's seven blocks Saturday against NJIT was one short of matching his career high.
The Hollywood, Florida, native's contributions helped the team reach a season best in a four-set match with 14 blocks Saturday at Global Credit Union Arena. Thone leads the team with 92 blocks this season.
The Lopes, now 18-2 after a 2-0 weekend against NJIT, will be back in action on Thursday and Friday at Concordia-Irvine.
