The Grand Canyon beach volleyball team was awarded two Coastal Collegiate Sports Association preseason conference honors in
Jessica Drake and
Krista Rowan. Through coaches voting, the CCSA announced 10 student-athletes from Florida State, LSU, South Carolina and GCU.
Drake, a junior from Fresno, California, was one of five athletes in the conference to earn unanimous status. The split blocker was a redshirt her freshman year but did not take long to get notice in her sophomore season. Drake picked up wins against No.1 TCU, No.6 LSU, No. 10 Georgia State, No.11 Stetson and No.18 Pepperdine.
Drake's first season also included her NCAA tournament debut against No.10 Stanford and made the CCSA All-Freshman team. Prior to the college ranks, Jessica was a former American Volleyball Coaches Association Junior All-America honorable mention.

Rowan, a senior from Chandler, Arizona, earned the award after a 2023 season full of success. The 6-foot blocker went 20-12 with top-20 wins against No.10 Georgia State, No.11 Stetson, No.18 Pepperdine, No.10 Stanford and No.9 California.
In addition to the Pair of the Week award last season, Rowan has competed in back-to-back NCAA tournaments.
"I am really proud of the hard work and dedication Krista and Jess have given not only to me, but GCU as a whole," Lopes head coach
Abra Rummel said. "They are outstanding young women, students, athletes, and I cannot wait to see what they do on the court this year."
GCU opens its season at home on Saturday, facing Arizona Christian (10 a.m.) and Ottawa (noon) at the GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
