GCU win or draw clinches WAC Tournament bye

Grand Canyon finishes the regular season Saturday in Riverside, California, in an important bout with California Baptist.

GCU enters Saturday's match at 5-1 in conference play after falling 3-0 to Utah Valley on Monday.
The Lopes can clinch a bye in the WAC Tournament with a win or draw at California Baptist.
A GCU win and a Utah Valley loss at Seattle would give the Lopes a share of the WAC regular-season title.
GCU had never started WAC play with consecutive wins until this season, when it rattled off five straight victories.
The Lopes are ending the WAC season with four straight matches on the road, finishing this weekend at California Baptist.
GCU goalkeeper DeAira Jackson has accumulated seven shutouts on the season, tying her season total in the 2023 season.
Jackson tied the GCU Division I era and all-time shutout records at 14. She did so in fewer than two seasons.
One more Jackson shutout will put her at the top of both records at GCU.
The Lopes are 11-1-1 when they score a goal.
GCU senior midfielder Bella Piete is the team's offensive leader statistically, with three goals and two assists. Two of her goals were game-winners.
Junior midfielder AJ Loera leads the Lopes in assists with four.
GCU now has 15 different goal scorers and 14 players with an assist through the first 17 matches.
The Lopes' 15 different goal scorers this season are the most by a GCU team in its 12-year Division I era. The number also leads the WAC this season.

Utah Valley locks up the outright WAC title with a win or draw vs. Seattle U.
A Seattle U loss or draw gives GCU a bye in the WAC Tournament.
A Lopes win or draw vs. CBU would also clinch a bye for them.
A GCU win and Utah Valley loss at Seattle, would give Grand Canyon a share of the WAC Regular Season title.

California Baptist will clinch the No. 4 seed in the WAC Tournament with a win or draw, or a Tarleton State loss or draw.
The Lancers will finish the regular season with matches vs. the top three teams in the WAC, losing to Utah Valley and Seattle U last week.
This is the 15th all-time meeting between California Baptist and GCU, with the Lancers holding a 7-4-3 advantage in results.
GCU last played California Baptist in Phoenix on Oct. 7, 2023, when the teams tied 1-1.
California Baptist senior Lauryn White leads the team in points (nine) with four goals and an assist.
Lancers goalkeeper Mikayla O'Brien has 40 saves on the season with a .833 save percentage.
