NCAA's new approved legislation allows Sherrill coaching staff role

"I'm so thrilled to stay on the staff a second year," Sherrill said. "Thank you to GCU administration for adding the position and to Coach Hays for making it happen. I'm excited for another successful year as a Lope."
In January the NCAA Division I council on approved legislation that transforms the volunteer assistant coach position in all sports into a full-time, paid assistant coach. The votes mean that, starting in July when the NCAA's new fiscal year begins, softball coaching staffs will be allowed a head coach and three assistant coaches, all of whom will be allowed to perform on-field coaching and off-campus recruiting.
