The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team released its fall schedule with Lopes head coach
Tim Nollan announcing one home tournament during nonconference action and eight home conference matches.

"We have put a tremendously challenging schedule together," Nollan said. "Playing teams from the ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 and the Big Ten, as well as some very talented and successful mid-majors is designed to test our team and ensure it is ready for the always-difficult WAC."
After making their first postseason appearance at the Division I level, going 18-11 overall and 10-4 in WAC play, the Lopes return for a schedule that will feature four nonconference tournaments before heading into conference play. GCU ranked within the nation's top 35 institutions for attendance with 1,360 fans per game at GCU Arena, where the Lopes have gone 26-5 since 2020.
GCU returns two-time WAC Setter of the Year
Klaire Mitchell, who holds the Lopes' Division I-era assist record (3,434) in four seasons. Mitchell has earned All-WAC honors in all four seasons with the Lopes, setting a new career high of 1,126 assists in a single season, leading the Lopes in total assists and assists per set.
Alongside an arsenal of Lopes, GCU also returns outside hitter
Tatum Parrott, last season's only freshman to earn WAC first-team honors. Parrott also earned three consecutive WAC Freshman of the Week awards and led the team in four offensive categories: kills (307), kills per set (3.34), service aces (33), and aces per set (.36).
The Lopes begin the season at Wake Forest on Aug. 25-27 with matches against Northeastern, Toledo and the host Demon Deacons. GCU returns home for the GCU Invitational on Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1-3), where the Lopes will host Long Island and Iowa State before closing out the event with Arizona.
"Our home tournament on Labor Day weekend is always a great event here at GCU and this looks to be no different," Nollan said. "I look for the GCU faithful to be out in full force as we kick off the 2023-24 school year with a bang."
GCU heads east to the Hawkeye Invitational on Sept. 8-10, taking on Missouri State, Central Michigan and Iowa.
"Our schedule is very travel-heavy early, and we will have to learn how to compete away from the confines of GCU Arena," Nollan said.
The Lopes close out the nonconference schedule with a trip the Big West-WAC Challenge where they will face Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine in Fullerton, California.
GCU opens the conference schedule on the road against Southern Utah on Sept. 21.
"The WAC is always challenging," Nollan said. "I look for this year to be as competitive as ever and am excited for this new season."
The Lopes welcome Abilene Christian for their first home WAC match of the season. GCU will take its first big road trip as it heads to UT Arlington on Oct. 5 and Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 7 with matches at UTRGV and California Baptist the following week.
GCU will close out the regular season at home on Nov. 11 against UT Arlington before heading to Orem for the WAC Tournament at Utah Valley.
