3 THINGS TO KNOW
- Senior right fielder Kristin Fifield broke the Lopes' Division I-era record for career RBIs (152) on March 25 against Tarleton and needs just one more home run to break the all-time GCU home run record (35), which she tied that same game.
- Fifield ranks second in the nation in RBIs (54) and RBIs per game (1.50), and eighth in total bases (91). The Lopes also lead the WAC in 11 of 18 statistical categories this season.
- The Lopes are 24-2 historically against the Wolverines, winning 3 of their four games in 2022. GCU carries a 7-1 record when they play UVU on the road.
SCOUTING UTAH VALLEY
- The Wolverines lead the conference in hit batters (9), ranking 34th in the nation in that category as well.
- Utah Valley is led by Briteny Moreno (hitting .316) and Megan Gibbs (23 RBIs) and is led in the circle by Katie Zuniga (3.89 ERA, 4-9).
- UVU started the WAC season with a 2-1 series win over New Mexico State at home(W 5-4, W 9-2, L 4-7), were swept by Sam Houston (3-13 (5 inns.) on the road, 0-4, 2-10), and swept Abilene Christian in Orem last weekend (4-3, 10-4, 7-2) to build a 5-4 conference record this season.
LAST TIME OUT
GCU vs New Mexico State
- The Lopes dropped their first WAC series of the season after recording their third opening-pair split, of three, this season.
- Losing an early lead and ultimately game one of the series, GCU bounced back in game two on Friday, despite scoring in only two innings and being outhit 11-9 by NMSU; back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning sealed an 8-5 victory in the second game of Friday's doubleheader
- Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Aggies also the first time that the Lopes lost after hitting three home runs in a single game this season, as GCU beat Portland State, Abilene Christian, and Tarleton in five innings under the same criteria; an NMSU 2-run walkoff concluded the series.

- The Lopes head across town to Arizona State on April 11 for a midweek matchup.
