Lopes enter California Baptist series with four-game win streak

The Grand Canyon softball team will travel to Riverside, Calif., to compete against California Baptist in a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m. (Phoenix time) and one Saturday game at 5 p.m.

3 THINGS TO KNOW

The Lopes lead the WAC in nine on 17 categories.
GCU is led by Hannah Burnett (.406 .avg), Kristin Fifield (66 RBIs) and Meghan Golden (1.98 ERA).
Fifield leads the nation in RBIs (66) and ranks fourth in RBIs per game (1.38), fifth in total bases (120), and ninth in home runs (17). Burnett holds ninth in runs per game (1.17) and 10th in stolen bases (31).

SCOUTING CALIFORNIA BAPTIST

CBU, ranked 134th in the NCAA, most recently split a doubleheader with No. 202 Saint Mary's on Monday.
The Lancers were swept by Utah Tech last weekend, losing their doubleheader in five innings each on Friday (2-13, 2-10) and dropping the series finale (6-7).
CBU, tied for fifth in the WAC, is led by Priscilla Estrada (.386 .avg), Alissa Montes De Oca (21 RBIs) and Karmyna Beccera (21 RBIs), and Jazmine Castaneda (2.74 ERA).

LAST TIME OUT

GCU at San Diego

Grand Canyon softball won its fourth straight game, downing San Diego 9-5 on Wednesday night.
The Lopes rallied with eight unanswered runs, with Schaefer knocking in three RBIs.
Despite sending four pitchers to the circle, the Lopes came out on top with them combining for four strikeouts. Two came from senior Ariel Thompson and two were by sophomore Meghan Golden, who has thrown 100 strikeouts in 74 innings this season.
