3 THINGS TO KNOW
- Sophomore pitcher Meghan Golden, now 6-0, threw a one-hitter on Saturday vs. Sam Houston, improving her season ERA to 0.76, which ranks 10th nationally. Golden also has 62 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched for the nation's sixth-best rate of strikeouts per seven innings (11.7). Meanwhile, junior pitcher Hailey Hudson ranks 10th in the NCAA in shutouts (4).
- Senior right fielder Kristin Fifield leads the nation in RBIs (46), ranks second in RBIs per game (1.53), sixth in total bases (78), eighth in home runs (10) and 10th in sacrifice flies (4).
- The Lopes lead the WAC in 13 of 18 statistical categories this season.
SCOUTING TARLETON
- The Texans and Lopes split a doubleheader in Stephenville, Texas, in their first meeting two years ago.
- Tarleton is led by junior Katy Schaefer (hitting .389) and junior Kelci Hill (20 RBIs) and is led in the circle by senior Grace Garcia (2.67 ERA, 9-3).
- After two wins at Seattle U, Garcia was named WAC Pitcher of the Week, for the second time this season. Garcia threw two complete games and 16 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. The senior was awarded the weekly accolade following her first career perfect game against Texas A&M-Commerce on Feb. 19.
