Gianni earns MPSF weekly honor

GCU outside hitter led Lopes with 25 kills, 6 aces in 2-0 week
Grand Canyon men's volleyball outside hitter Camden Gianni was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Gianni led the Lopes with 25 kills and six service aces in two home wins over Princeton as GCU reached 20 wins for the first time in program history.
Gianni, a junior, has been finding his form after missing games early in the season because of injury. Against the Tigers, Gianni averaged 4.17 kills per set with only six attacking errors in 47 attempts.
On Wednesday, Gianni led the team with 12 kills and 15 points in the three-set win, along with three aces. Friday was more of the same, as Gianni had 13 kills on .458 hitting with three more aces and 17 points.
Gianni has been on fire from the service line with an ace in eight straight matches, and he leads the team with 30 aces this season. In 2022, Gianni served a program-record 49 aces.
The Lopes will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, continuing MPSF play with Concordia-Irvine in GCU Arena.
