After leading conference scoring for weeks, Grand Canyon sophomore guard
Ray Harrison is now the WAC Player of the Week.

Harrison's 28-point effort in a Saturday night victory against Stephen F. Austin earned the honor, the first WAC Player of the Week honor to go to a Lopes player this season. GCU's
Kobe Knox previously won WAC Freshman of the Week twice.
The Greenville, South Carolina, native leads the WAC with a 21.1 scoring average in conference games. The 6-foot-4 guard continued a string of 17 consecutive double-digit scoring games with Saturday's 28-point effort, which tied for his second-best total of the season to the WAC season high of 38 he scored against Utah Tech on Jan. 18.
In the 86-83 win against Stephen F. Austin, Harrison made 7 of 12 shots from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and 11 of 13 from the free throw line. He also added six assists, one off a season high, and three rebounds in 35 minutes of play.
"It was tremendous," GCU head coach
Bryce Drew said of Harrison's performance. "We put so much on him. You see how much the weight is on him. We rely on him to make plays, not just once, but play after play after play sometimes. He really just embraced that challenge. He had two guys chasing him down, and he had to dribble out of that and then find open men. And then sometimes got fouled — 11 for 13 from the free throw line. He's a special player. He's only a sophomore. He's a really special player."
GCU (15-8, 6-4 WAC) stays at GCU Arena for a 7 p.m. Wednesday game, the always highly anticipated matchup with New Mexico State (9-14, 2-9 WAC).
