
Grand Canyon will return to the field of the MLB Desert Invitational to open its season for the second straight year, completing a 2024 schedule
that was first announced in November.
The Lopes' three-game opening weekend includes a Friday night home opener and two games at local spring training sites.
GCU will open the season in the friendly confines of Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark, welcoming in Georgetown on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.
The weekend will continue in local MLB spring training venues.
On Saturday, GCU will take on USC on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at Salt River Fields, the spring training home of Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. Head coach
Gregg Wallis and the Lopes take on former GCU head coach Andy Stankiewicz's club.
After a day off on Sunday, the invitational concludes on Monday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. against BYU at Sloan Park, the Mesa spring training home of the Chicago Cubs.
"We're excited for the opportunity to showcase the university, the Havocs, our campus, our ballpark and our program to a national audience," Lopes head coach
Gregg Wallis said. "We have tremendous respect for all three programs and can't wait to welcome them to the Valley for an exciting weekend of baseball."
GCU adds two more clubs with winning records (Georgetown and USC) and another top-100 club (USC) to its schedule.
Tickets for the two games at spring training sites
are available here now. Tickets for GCU's home opener on Feb. 16 and all home games will be available beginning Jan. 11.
