Parrott earns AVCA All-America honors

Elite GCU sophomore outside hitter receives honorable mention
Grand Canyon outside hitter Tatum Parrott completed her phenomenal sophomore campaign with an All-American honorable mention from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, becoming the Lopes program's first Division I All-America honoree.
Parrott ranked in the national top 10 for points per set and kills per set to help the Lopes (23-8) to their first WAC Tournament championship title in November and the program's first NCAA tournament appearance, a Dec. 1 match at No. 10 Washington State.
"Tatum had a special year," Lopes head coach Tim Nollan said. " I am pleased that the committee recognized her with this award. She is in elite company. What a great day for her and our program."
Parrott also earned the program's first D-I regional honors last week as a Pacific South all-region selection. She continues to build quite the resume, which includes claiming her thirdpostseason conference honor and second consecutive All-WAC first-team honors.
The Phoenix native led the WAC in kills (490), points per set (5.4) and kills per set (4.7), ranking seventh in the nation for points per set and ninth for kills per set.
She notched 12 kills with a .310 hitting percentage and added a solo block and a block assist for 13.5 points in her first NCAA tournament appearance. She had 19 matches with .300-plus hitting this season, including three versus top-50 opponents.
The Greenway High School graduate joined Mitchell and senior outside hitter Ashley Lifgren on the WAC All-Tournament Team after swinging for a career-high 30 kills in the championship match, when she also posted 19 digs and a .357 hitting percentage. Parrott averaged 6.2 kills per set during the Lopes' WAC Tournament tear.
Parrott set three Lopes program records this season, including single-season kills (490), single-season points (571) and career points (927.5). She posted 4.67 kills per set with..317 hitting while notching 215 digs, 66 blocks and 37 service aces.
