Four of the top six and nine of the top 25 WAC freshmen are at Grand Canyon, according to
a rankings projection by Perfect Game.
GCU holds nearly half of the top 18 spots on the list. With 29 players named in the conference, no other school boasted more than five selections.
Right-handed pitcher
Connor Mattison (pictured) tops the rankings and leads a group of four Lopes who rank in the top six.
Lopes' honorees:

- No. 3: Hunter Watkins, right-handed pitcher, Simi Valley, Calif.
- No. 4: Cooper Neville, infielder, Glendale, Ariz.
- No. 6: Marcus Galvan, catcher, Chino, Calif.
- No. 11: JT Kelenic, outfielder, Waukesha, Wisc.
- No. 13: Brady Francisco, catcher, Thousand Oaks, Calif.
- No. 14: Garrett Ahern, right-handed pitcher, Gilbert, Ariz.
- No. 18: Troy Sanders, infielder, Tucson, Ariz.
- No. 25: Ben Smith, left-handed pitcher, Henderson, Nev.
GCU is in the midst of fall practices with exhibition games against BYU on Nov. 4 at GCU Ballpark and at Arizona State on Nov. 11.
