August, Russell to coach at USA Volleyball event

GCU coaches set to work with top volleyball prospects in USAV training series
Grand Canyon men's volleyball assistant coach Matt August and graduate assistant Peter Russell will represent the Lopes this weekend at the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program's Indoor Fall Training Series event in Phoenix.
With more than 200 athletes expected to join the Friday-Sunday training series at the Spiral Sports Complex, August and Russell will have the opportunity to coach some of the top volleyball athletes in the country.
August, in his first season at GCU, will coach the U-19 boys alongside Long Beach State associate head coach Nick MacRae, USC assistant coach Rory Prager and Springfield College graduate assistant Steve Duhoux.
Russell, in his second season with the Lopes after a stellar career at Penn State, earns his first USA Volleyball coaching opportunity.
Replacing the USA Volleyball High Performance Program, the National Team Development Program increases the opportunity for athletes to be seen and evaluated as they pursue their ultimate goal of representing the U.S. on the national team. Athletes who attend are selected via a nationwide scouting network that identifies athletes at qualifiers, bid events and high school club tournaments across the U.S.
