Grand Canyon women's volleyball announced the addition of two graduate students to its fall roster with right side

MELANIE BRECKA
Right side – Lincoln, Nebraska – Kansas City
Brecka is very familiar with GCU after the graduate student started four seasons for Kansas City, which formerly competed in the WAC. The 6-foot right-side hitter had a tremendous career at Kansas City, leaving her name all over the Roos record book. She ranks in the top 10 for career kills per set and hitting percentage.
The Lincoln, Nebraska, native will bring experience and leadership to the Lopes lineup. Brecka earned a spot on the All-Summit Conference first team in back-to-back seasons as well as Summit Player of the Year as a junior. During her two seasons playing in the WAC, she was named to the All-WAC second team both seasons and the All-WAC freshman team.
In her final season with the Roos, Brecka posted double-digit kills in 27 matches and posted 20-plus in five matches. She led her team in kills per set (3.78), kills (438), points (511) and points per set (4.11).
MEGAN TAFLINGER
Outside hitter – Leona Valley, California – Wichita State
Taflinger joins the Lopes as a 6-foot outside hitter from Leona Valley, California. She spent the last four seasons at Wichita State, where she started on the outside for three seasons.
The pin hitter totaled 683 kills and 2.74 kills per set in the American Athletic Conference for the Shockers. In her final season with Wichita State, the Quartz Hill (California) High School product totaled two double-doubles, both against SMU, and had a career-best five blocks at Missouri State.
