The No. 7 Grand Canyon beach volleyball team heads across town to Tempe to take on Arizona State and Washington at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility on Thursday, then heads back home to welcome Utah and Oregon to GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium on Friday and Monday.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- STRONG WEEKEND: GCU went 4-2 at the March to May tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama, taking down three top-20 opponents (No. 13 Georgia State, No. 11 Florida Atlantic and No. 20 Tulane). The Lopes also defeated tournament host UAB.
- NATIONAL PAIR OF THE WEEK:Â Sophomore duo Allison Hansen and Allanis Navas were named the AVCA/CBVB Pair of the Week after posting a 5-0 record with wins over Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, LSU, Tulane and UAB.
- PAC-12 STAND:Â GCU's next four opponents hail from the Pac-12 with matches against ASU, Washington, Utah and Oregon over five days.
SCOUTING
Arizona State- This will be the second matchup of the season between the Lopes and Sun Devils, with GCU winning 4-1 in the first meeting.
- ASU is 10-6 and picked up a ranked win over No. 13 Arizona two weeks ago.
- The Huskies are 3-3 to start the season with two wins over Portland and a win over San Jose State.Â
- The last matchup between GCU and Washington was in 2016, when the Lopes defeated the Huskies 4-1 at a neutral-site tournament.
- The Utes are 4-4 this season and are coming off of a 2-2 weekend at a tournament in Grand Junction, Colorado.
- GCU is 3-0 all-time against Utah. The last meeting between the pair was on March 26, 2021, when GCU won 5-0 on its Senior Day.
- Oregon is 7-4 this season and is coming off a 2-2 weekend at San Jose State, where the Ducks defeated Sacramento State and San Francisco but fell to San Jose State and Saint Mary's.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Lopes and Ducks.
LAST TIME OUT
- GCU played in the fourth annual March to May tournament, one of the nation's premier beach volleyball events. The event hosted eight nationally ranked teams, including No. 1 UCLA, No. 4 Florida State, No. 5 LSU, No. 7 GCU, No. 11 Florida Atlantic, No. 13 Georgia State, No. 15 South Carolina and No. 20 Tulane. UAB hosted the tournament at the annual NCAA Championships site.

- Up next, the Lopes host Utah on Friday at 2 p.m. and Oregon on Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
