The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team travels to Texas to compete against Stephen F. Austin on Thursday evening and UT Arlington on Saturday morning.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- GCU graduate outside hitter Melanie Brecka claimed WAC Offensive Player of the Week after posting 16 points, 15 kills, 5.33 points per set and a solo block in a Saturday win against California Baptist.
- Senior setter Klaire Mitchell ranks second in the conference in assists (506) and assists per set (8.88).
- GCU and SFA have only met once prior to this season on Oct. 23, 2021, when the Lopes came away victorious (3-1).
SCOUTING STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
- The Lumberjacks lead the conference and rank within the nation's top 10 team for digs (No. 5, 1,102). SFA's Haley Hoang Jr. ranks nationally for digs per set (No. 6, 5.57) and total digs (No. 10, 334).
- Ielan Bradley leads the Lady Jacks in kills per set (2.98) and Maddy Bourque leads SFA in assists per set (5.76).
- SFA has earned five WAC awards this season. Huong, a junior, is a three-time Defensive Player of the Week while outside hitters Camryn Hill and Ariana Pagan each won Offensive Player of the Week once.
SCOUTING UT ARLINGTON
- The Lopes lost 3-2 to Mavericks at home on Sept. 24; only the fourth set was decided by more than four points when GCU toppled UT Arlington 25-14.
- The Mavericks lead the WAC in blocks per set (2.56) and total blocks (156), ranking 32nd and 22nd, respectively, in the nation .
- Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Ford and setter Sophie Skinner received WAC Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively, on Sept. 12, while outside hitter Jalie Tritt earned the top freshman honor for the week of Sept. 19.

- The Lopes swept the Lancers 25-17, 25-22 and 25-11.
- Graduate outside hitter Melanie Brecka led the Lopes offensively (16 points, 15 kills, one solo block) and graduate outside hitter Megan Taflinger posted a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs).
- Senior setter Klaire Mitchell recorded her 500th set this season.
