LAS VEGAS — The Grand Canyon softball team broke out the bats in racking up 20 runs over a two-game weekend at Eller Media Stadium.
The Lopes homered six times in a condensed four-inning contest against Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon, tallying 12 runs. GCU followed it up with an eight-run performance against UNLV on Sunday afternoon.
In Saturday's weekend opener junior infielder
CC Wong began the power display with a two-run homer in the first inning. Senior infielder
Madison Schaefer followed it up with a solo shot.

Katelyn Dunckel continued the home run theme with a three-run shot for the Lopes' third long ball of the game.
More home runs followed in the third inning where Wong homered again before senior catcher
Kinsey Koeltzow slugged her first of the day, a two-run shot. Junior outfielder
Kayla Rodgers capped off the game with a solo shot.
On Day 2 against host UNLV, the Lopes were patient at the plate to draw eight walks. GCU paired the walks with 12 base hits and scored eight runs on the day. Schaefer hit her second homer of the weekend with a solo homer to straightaway center field.
The Lopes' fall schedule takes its final turn. GCU plays the back end of a home-and-home fall-ball series with Arizona State, heading to Tempe for a 6 p.m. game on Wednesday. The schedule concludes back at GCU Softball Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 2 against Central Arizona.
