The men's basketball contest between Grand Canyon and Lamar that was scheduled for Saturday in Beaumont, Texas, was canceled and will not be rescheduled in a Friday announcement made by the WAC.
The decision was made by Lamar due to lack of player availability. As a result, GCU will receive a forfeit win and Lamar will receive a forfeit loss toward seeding at the WAC Basketball Tournament. Per NCAA guidelines, the game will be a no contest for NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings.
The Lopes improve to 3-0 in conference play but remain 12-2 overall following the cancellation.
GCU
defeated UT Rio Grande Valley 84-70 on Thursday night in Edinburg, Texas. With the back half of the road trip canceled, the Lopes will turn their focus to a two-game week at GCU Arena with fellow 2021 NCAA tournament participant Abilene Christian visiting Thursday and Tarleton visiting Saturday. Both games will tip at 7 p.m. with Saturday's matchup
airing on ESPNU.
