Two Grand Canyon softball players earned Preseason All-WAC nods from conference coaches who picked the Lopes to finish third in the WAC West Division this season.

GCU senior outfielder
Gianna Nicoletti and junior utility player
Kristin Fifield were among 13 players chose for the Preseason All-WAC Team.Â
"This recognition is well deserved for Gianna and Kristin," Lopes head coach
Shanon Hays said. "They were proven performers last year in the WAC. We hope they stay healthy and continue to put up numbers to help our team. Their leadership on and off the field is vital for our team's success. Congratulations to both."

Nicoletti, a native of Fullerton, California, earned All-WAC first team and was named to the WAC All-Tournament team just a season ago.
The senior has proven to be a threat at the plate and on the base paths with team-leading .361 batting average and 28 stolen bases, which gave her the Lopes' Division I-era record for steals in a season and for her career (39). She ranked fourth in the conference for hitting and first for steals. Nicoletti recorded a team-best 56 hits, 38 runs and 22 walks last season and made just one error for a .982 fielding percentage.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Fifield comes into her third season with the Lopes as a true utility player who carries a lot of pop at the plate.
The junior earned All-WAC first team after having a team-best slugging percentage of .562, 33 RBIs, seven home runs and four triples. Fifield was second on the team in hits (29) and third in batting average (.340) while tying for fourth in the conference for triples.
GCU was tabbed for third place in the WAC's West Division behind favorite Seattle U and New Mexico State. Stephen F. Austin was predicted to win the Southwest Division.
