The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team looks to keep its momentum as it welcomes another new WAC opponent, Dixie State. The Lopes and Trailblazers have not met since Nov. 10, 2012, in which GCU won 3-0. GCU and Dixie State will play back-to-back matches on Monday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday at 2 p.m.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- Freshman standout: Freshman outside hitter Ashley Lifgren made an immediate impact for the Lopes as she collected double-doubles in both matches with Tarleton. In her first collegiate match, Lifgren totaled 15 kills and 16 digs along with two block assists. In her second match, she picked up 23 digs and 14 kills.
- New position: Senior K.J. Adams has transitioned smoothly into the Lopes' libero position for her final season. Adams earned WAC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Tarleton in which she recprded 45 digs in the two matches.
- Record chasing: Sophomore setter Klaire Mitchell obliterated the program's Division I-era record for assists in a four-set match with 55 on Jan. 26. Mitchell needs 254 assists to tie the all-time assists record.
SCOUTING
Dixie State comes into this week's action with five matches under its belt. Most recently, the Trailblazers swept the UT Rio Grande Valley in Saint George, Utah. Dixie State fell to New Mexico State in its opening conference series but managed to take a set in both matches.
Opposite hitter Megan Treanor totaled 31 kills in the two matches while setter Jordyn Nelson tallied 51 assists.
Freshman Katie Hardy had a team high of 17 kills for the Trailblazers in their second match with the Vaqueros.

- The Lopes travel to Tucson, Arizona, to take on New Mexico State on Feb. 15-16.
