The Grand Canyon women's golf team returns to action Monday when it begins play in The Valley Invitational in Bakersfield, Calif.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is hosted by CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly. On Monday, 36 holes will be played, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday at Bakersfield Country Club.
The tournament co-hosts are joined in the field by GCU, Boise State, California Baptist, Colorado State, CSU Fullerton, Dixie State, Santa Clara and Utah Valley.
The Lopes did not play in the fall as the WAC suspended the fall season because of health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. GCU was last in action nearly a year ago on Feb. 22-23, 2020, at the GCU Invitational. The Lopes captured their tournament title, defeating California Baptist by one shot. GCU's Alexis Linam was one of five players under par and won medalist honors.
