The Grand Canyon women's soccer team signed a top Team IMPACT recruit on Saturday, officially welcoming Isa Renteria to the GCU soccer family.
"We're super excited for Isa and her family to join our GCU soccer family," head coach
Chris Cissell. "The opportunities and time we have spent on the phone or on Zoom getting to know her, she's just an unbelievable person who's going to bring so much to our entire team and I think it's going to be a great opportunity and learning tool for us."
Isa was welcomed on a Zoom meeting on Saturday morning with her entire family and the whole soccer team present to witness her NLI signing. After officially becoming a Lope, balloons fell and everyone danced to her favorite song. She got to check out her own personal locker in GCU Stadium complete with her own jersey with her favorite number, No. 3.

Isa is described by her family as strong, resilient, courageous, energetic and always able to find the positives in light. There is no doubt she will bring a lot to the Lopes in their 2020-21 season and into the future.
Four players from the team —
Haley Bostard,
Perri Belzer,
Sydney Torres and
Reese Mendenhall — have taken a leadership role in the process to bring Isa to the team and they showed their excitement to have her as a fellow Lope.
"We're super excited to have Isa on our team," Bostard said. "I think she's going to be able to create a positive impact on us, and we'll be able to impact her as well. I think just being able to have this event for her will be huge. We want her to know that she's a part of our team in every way and this signing day will be able to signify to her that we can all come together as one and welcome her."

With COVID protocols still in effect at GCU home games, Isa and her family hope to be out to a game soon but will stay connected to the team with virtual meetings and events planned throughout the year.
"I've worked with Team IMPACT when I was in Kansas City, so I was really excited when our team here at GCU wanted to do this as well," Cissell added. "The signing ceremony was so fun, and I am so excited to have Isa on our team."
