The Grand Canyon women's volleyball team kept its perfect home record alive with a three-set (25-21, 27-25, 25-20) win over Seattle U on Saturday afternoon.
In five matches at GCU Arena this season, the Lopes have not dropped a set.
The Lopes (11-2, 3-1 WAC) started out the first set with a 7-2 lead after three straight points highlighted by a kill from junior middle blocker

Teagan DeFalco followed with a service ace. Late in the set, the Lopes went on a four-point run with two of those points coming from freshman outside hitter

Ashley Lifgren recorded kills for the Lopes' 23rd and 24th points.
Seattle U started the second set with a 12-8 lead over the Lopes. GCU went on a six-point run started off by three straight kills from Kubinski. The Redhawks took the lead back and went up on the Lopes 22-20 before GCU went on a four-point run with Kubinski once again startomg things off with a kill and sophomore outside hitter
Giorgia Turri following with back-to-back kills. With the Lopes at set point, Seattle U responded and forced extra points. At set point once again, the Lopes forced back-to-back Seattle U errors to take the second set.
With the momentum on the Lopes' side, they got out to a 7-4 lead over the Redhawks. Sophomore defensive specialist
Castan Sturm recorded her first service ace as a Lope and lifted the Lopes to a 16-11 lead over Seattle U. Mitchell found Lifgren on the pin to give GCU set point, and an error by Seattle U closed out the match.
The Lopes are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 9 as they take on Chicago State in Chicago at 11 a.m. (Phoenix time).
