Lopes face 3 ranked opponents at tourney

The 10th-ranked Grand Canyon beach volleyball team heads to Hilton Head, South Carolina, to play in the Hilton Head Invitational this weekend. The event has four other teams ranked in the top 20 or receiving votes.

GCU will face No. 3 Florida State (7-0) and College of Charleston (0-0) on Saturday and will take on No. 4 USC (0-0) and No. 17 South Carolina (1-3) on Sunday.

The Lopes are coming off an undefeated opening weekend in which they beat No. 11 Cal 4-1, along with Saint Mary's 3-2, Santa Clara 5-0 and San Jose State 5-0. GCU's No. 1 pair of sophomore Teagan DeFalco and junior Bella Bauman went undefeated and ranks second in the NCAA with a 4-0 pairs record. Junior Taylor Jarzombek and sophomore Madi Relaz also went 4-0 and rank third in the NCAA for No. 5 pairs.
