After playing its eight opening games at GCU Ballpark, the Grand Canyon baseball team hits the road to open its road schedule at Stanford. This will be the first time the Lopes will play at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond, with the two schools meeting for the first time last season at GCU Ballpark.

The game will stream live on Pac-12.com.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

TRANSFERS STANDING OUT: The theme of the season so far is the success of the GCU's transfers. So far transfers have accounted for 31 of the team's 52 hits (60%) and 29 of the team's 38 RBIs (76%). Junior Dawson McCarville has also made two starts for the Lopes after two years at Glendale Community College.
1-0 START: GCU will have nine games against Pac-12 teams this year and started off on the right foot by winning in 12 innings against Oregon on Feb. 18. With two outs in the 12th inning, three consecutive GCU batters reached based with Channy Ortiz scoring on a wild pitch.
TOP 20 NATIONALLY: Through the first two weeks of the season, the Lopes rank in the top 20 nationally in three categories. GCU ranks 10th in fewest walks allowed per nine innings (2.04), 12th in double plays turned (8), and 16th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.29).

SCOUTING

Stanford has struggled so far this season, winning just one of its first eight games. After losing two of three against Cal State Fullerton in the season opener and losing to Santa Clara in a mid-week game, Stanford lost three games against tough competition at the Round Rock Classic in Texas. On Tuesday, the Cardinal held a lead late against Cal, but a seven-run seventh by the Golden Bears denied Stanford the win. Stanford is batting .195 with one home run and 82 strikeouts. Christian Robinson leads the team with a .231 average, while junior right-handed pitcher Alex Williams has been the bright spot, going 1-1 with a 0.71 ERA in his first two starts.

WHAT'S NEXT

GCU will head back to the friendly confines of GCU Ballpark for a five-game homestand beginning with a two-game midweek series against New Mexico on March 3 and 4.
