Top-5 finish lands GCU newcomer honors
Grand Canyon junior golfer Reece Nilsen won WAC Men's Golfer of the Week for Feb. 5-11.
The transfer played in his first tournament in the GCU purple and did not disappoint at the Orange County Collegiate Classic in Coto de Caza, California. Nilsen finished in fifth place in the 93-play field, leading the Lopes to a third-place team finish among 17 teams.
Nilsen recorded a pair of par-or-better rounds and finished with a 2-over-total of 218.
GCU is back in action at the John A. Burns Invitational on Feb. 20-22 in Lihue, Hawaii.
