The Grand Canyon women's basketball team used a big offensive fourth quarter to defeat New Mexico State 60-49 on Saturday at GCU Arena.
With its fourth consecutive win, GCU stayed in a first-place tied in the WAC by improving to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in WAC play, which is at the halfway point. New Mexico State drops to 7-14 overall and 4-4 in the WAC.

Da'jah Daniel led the Lopes with her 10th double-double of the season. Daniel scored a team-high 11 points with a season-high 15 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. Freshman forward
Mae Bryant also added 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for her third double-double in the past five games.
GCU locked up the WAC's leading scorer, senior guard Gia Pack of Phoenix. The Aggies star finished with a game-high 14 points, but only converted on 5 of 18 shots from the field.
The Lopes held a 36-29 advantage on the glass and shot 48% from the field.
GCU trailed by one point at halftime after sophomore
Laura Piera hitting a half-ending 3-pointer and led 39-37 entering the fourth quarter after Piera hit another quarter-ending jumper in the third. Piera finished wtih nine points and three assists.
The Aggies took a quick lead in the final period, 41-39 with 9:20 remaining. From that point, a field goal by GCU sophomore guard
Mariah Mitchell at the 9:02 mark tied the score and triggered a 12-2 run, wihch was capped by Piera's driving layup for a 51-43 lead with 4:06 remaining.
New Mexico State came as close as three points after a 3-pointer at the 1:30 mark. On the following possession, freshman point guard
Jada Holland connected from long distance to push the lead to 54-48 with 1:05 left. The Aggies were forced to foul and the Lopes went 6 for 6 down the stretch from the line to pull away.
GCU is back in action next Saturday when it hosts California Baptist in GCU Arena.
