GCU aims to break the all-time series tie between the two programs on Saturday. The matchup with the Lancers will be GCU's second WAC game and fourth for the Lancers.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- PAINT IT PURPLE: Senior Da'jah Daniel and freshman Mae Bryant are stepping it up in the paint. Daniel leads the WAC with 9.9 rebounds per game and has added six double-doubles. Bryant had a breakout game against CSU Bakersfield with a season-high 15 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
- LONG DISTANCE: While the Lopes went 0 for 7 in their last game from 3-point range, GCU still leads the WAC from behind the arc by shooting 37% from long range.
- SPLIT: GCU and CBU each won a game on its home court in last year's first WAC meetings between the teams.
SCOUTING
California Baptist tied CSU Bakersfield with a conference-high eight nonconference wins. The Lancers opened WAC play with losses at New Mexico State (57-56) and UT Rio Grande Valley (87-68).
CBU played No. 3 Stanford tight in a preseason game, losing 83-78 in Victoria, British Columbia.
Senior guard Lexy Ram leads the Lancers with 11.4 points per game and junior guard Ane Olaeta, a Spain native like GCU's
Laura Piera and
Carla Balague, adds 11.3 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
- GCU fell to CSUB to open WAC play after being tied with two minutes to go.
