Da'jah Daniel scored a career-high 31 points as the Lopes trounced Chicago State 69-49 on Thursday night in GCU Arena.
Daniel made 12 of 16 shots and added 13 rebounds and two blocks.
"This week, we talked a lot about effort and attitude and I think we finally put it together for 40 minutes," Daniel said. "I feel grateful about the 31 points, but I wouldn't have gotten them without my teammates."
GCU dominated inside, outscoring Chicago State 48-30 in the paint. As a team, GCU shot 52.9% from the field and recorded 18 assists, led by freshman point guardÂ
Jada Holland with six.
The Lopes led wire to wire after jumping out to a 22-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mae Bryant added 10 points and six rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench.

Mariah Mitchell having her top game with six points, two steals and two assists in 21 minutes off the bench.
Chicago State was led by Alexandria Cliff with 16 points and Bethany Carstens with 11 points.
With the win, GCU improves to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in WAC play while Chicago State drops to 0-18 overall and 0-5 in WAC.
GCU is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Kansas City at 2 p.m. in GCU Arena.
