For the first time this season, GCU junior libero
Teagan DeFalco was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week. The award marks the second honor for DeFalco in her career.
A native of Long Beach, California, DeFalco was named All-Tournament Libero for the second straight weekend after helping GCU (10-2) to a 2-1 showing at the Grand Canyon Classic. She held a WAC-best average of 5.6 digs per set during the week, in which she tallied 67 digs and 15 assists.
DeFalco's strongest performance came in a three-set loss to Cal State Northridge. She tallied 27 digs for an average of 9.3 digs per set. She then added 20 digs in a four-set win over Idaho and 19 in a five-set comeback win against Omaha in the tournament finale.
Through four weeks, DeFalco is averaging 4.6 digs per set to rank third among WAC players.
DeFalco and the Lopes take to the road to open WAC play at Chicago State on Thursday. The Lopes then travel to Kansas City for a match on Monday.
