After closing its season with a series win over Kansas City, the third-seeded Grand Canyon softball team opens up the postseason against No. 6 CSU Bakersfield in the first round of the WAC Tournament on Wednesday. The Lopes (30-22, 12-6 WAC) and the Roadrunners (14-30, 3-15 WAC) meet in a 5:30 p.m. (Arizona time) showdown following the tournament's first game between No. 4 Utah Valley and No. 5 Kansas City.
This year marks GCU's second WAC Tournament appearance, as the Lopes finished 4-2 in the postseason in 2018 with a run to the WAC Championship finale against tournament-winners New Mexico State. Top-seeded Seattle U and the #2 Aggies received a first-round bye and will play their first games on Thursday.
