Grand Canyon and Arizona renew an in-state series that dates back to 1967 and has been contested 85 times. The Lopes and Wildcats meet for a home-and-home series for the third straight season beginning at Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
GCU already has played three Pac-12 teams this season and holds a 3-2 record in those meetings. That began with a loss to No. 12 Stanford before the Lopes won two of three games at USC and defeated Utah at home.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- FLASHING POWER: Just past the midway point of the season, GCU surpassed last year's home run total of 25 with 31. The Lopes are launching home runs at their fastest pace (1.0 per game) since 1999 when they finished with 64.
- IN THE FIELD: The Lopes committed just nine errors in their past 15 games. GCU's .977 fielding percentage ranks No. 25 nationally.
- DOUBLE DOWN: GCU is No. 12 in the country with 70 doubles led by junior outfielder Kona Quiggle's mark of 15 doubles that is tied for 11th nationally.
SCOUTING
Arizona enters the game having lost seven of its past 10 games, but the Wildcats are coming off a three-game sweep of Washington in Tucson. The Wildcats feature a top-10 offense in scoring (fourth nationally at 9.4 runs per game) and batting average (ninth at .309). Arizona has struggled to pitch and play defense, holding a 5.57 team ERA (ranks 212th) and a .955 fielding percentage (ranks 260th).
In recent action, the Wildcats swept a three-game home series against Washington to snap their losing skid. Arizona outscored the Huskies 30-9 for the weekend.
Arizona took both games of last year's home-and-home series against the Lopes.
