A pair of new faces will be joining the GCU women's volleyball staff, as announced by head coach
Tim Nollan.
Jake Hong, most recently an assistant coach at West Virginia, takes over as assistant coach at GCU.
Abby Saehler, a former graduate assistant coach at Concordia (Neb.), takes over as Director of Volleyball operations.
Additionally, current assistant coach
Emily Witsaman, has been named the recruiting coordinator.
Hong spent the past two seasons at West Virginia, helping the Mountaineers to a 21-win season and a semifinal appearance in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC). The San Jose, Calif. native has over 10 years of collegiate and club coaching experience with stops at WVU, High Point, UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. He is a graduate from UNC Greensboro.
Saehler has spent the past two years as a graduate assistant coach at Concordia (Neb.). She is a graduate of Wingate University (North Carolina) and played collegiately for the Bulldogs. She was a two-time AVCA All-American and earned three Southeast All-Region awards.
GCU returns all of its top point scorers from last season, including
Kaira Moss who was named to the WAC All-Freshmen Team. The returnees will be joined by the talented freshmen of Hannah Eskes, Klaire Mitchell and Kailey Trapp. GCU has also added a pair of transfers in
Emilee Rohrer and Yeny Montoya Murillo.
The Lopes begin their spring schedule on March 30 at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
