Lopes take down No. 15 Florida Atlantic

SOUTH BEACH, Fla. – Grand Canyon beach volleyball split Day 2 of the FIU Surf & Turf Invitational, winning 3-2 against No. 15 Florida Atlantic (11-7) on Saturday for its first win of the weekend. The No. 16 Lopes (14-7) also fell to No. 4 LSU (16-5) on Saturday.

Vs. LSU
Senior Mikaela Raudsepp and redshirt freshman Teagan DeFalco dropped the first match of the day on court one, falling 21-13, 21-12. Junior Jessica Stansfield and sophomore Bella Bauman fell next on court two, 21-14, 21-16.

Senior Jamie Walsh and freshman Anaya Evans followed with a 21-17, 21-19 win on court five. Sophomore Taylor Jarzombek and freshman Esmee Priem fell on court four, 21-19, 25-23. Junior Hannah Towne and freshman Katie Hess finished on court three, falling 21-18, 21-18.

Vs. Florida Atlantic
Stansfield and Bauman started the Lopes off with a 21-19, 21-13 win against Florida Atlantic on court two. Raudsepp and DeFalco put the Lopes up 2-0 with a win on court one, finishing 21-19, 21-12. Walsh and Evans secured the team win for GCU on court five when they rallied to win 18-21, 21-18, 15-7.

GCU fell on courts three and four to finish the match. Towne and Hess fell on court three, 21-17, 20-22, 15-11. Jarzombek and Priem closed the match with a loss on court four, 21-14, 25-23.
