Lopes host 2 matches Thursday

GCU looks to continue win streak at home

Grand Canyon beach volleyball hosts two opponents Thursday at GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium. The No. 17 Lopes (8-2) look to extend their seven-game winning streak as they take on North Florida (7-4) and Louisiana Monroe (7-3).

The Lopes have won seven consecutive matches to improve their season record to 8-2. GCU earned four wins in Fort Worth, Texas, over No. 17 Tulane, Missouri State, TCU and Georgia State before returning home to defeat Arizona Christian, New Mexico and San Diego City College.

GCU's first match of the day starts at 11 a.m. against North Florida. The Lopes trail by one match in their all-time series after falling to the Ospreys in a neutral-site matchup in 2016. North Florida is receiving votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll after winning seven matches in 2019, including a 3-2 win over TCU.

The Lopes then take on Louisiana Monroe at 1 p.m. GCU leads the Warhawks 1-0 in the all-time series after a neutral-site win in 2016. ULM also has recorded seven wins this season but lost its last two matchups against Corpus Christi. The Warhawks also take on Arizona Christian on Thursday at 3 p.m., at GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
