The Grand Canyon women's basketball team returns to the court after an 11-day break between games.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- NO. 2 IN NATION: The Lopes are the second-most accurate 3-point shooting team in the nation. GCU enters the week with a 47.3% mark from behind the arc, trailing only Holy Cross (49.4%). The Lopes also rank sixth nationally for field goal percentage (48.9%).
- MIDDLE PERIODS: GCU has outscored its opponents by a combined 26 points (181-155) in the second and third quarters this season.
- DISH-DISH: Freshman Jada Holland (7.0 assists per game) and sophomore Laura Piera (6.8 apg) rank 1-2 in the WAC for assists per game.
SCOUTING
PORTLAND STATE won last year's Big Sky Tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament. The Vikings fell to Oregon in first-round action.
The Vikings have five players averaging double-figure scoring.
PORTLAND is in its first year under head coach Michael Meek. The Pilots have won three regular-season West Coast Conference titles with the last coming in 1997.
Portland is coming off a pair of home losses against Abilene Christian and Loyola Chicago.
