Lopes aim for Olympic qualifying times in Atlanta
Several Grand Canyon men's swimmers qualified to compete Wednesday through Saturday in the Toyota U.S. Open in Atlanta. This will give the swimmers a chance to swim Olympic Trial cuts.
The event, hosted by USA Swimming, is a long-course meet at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Wednesday's timed finals begins at 4 p.m. (Phoenix time). Thursday through Saturday preliminary rounds start at 8 a.m. (Phoenix time) and finals begin at 5 p.m. (Phoenix time). There is no diving competition or relays.
The Lopes set to compete in the U.S. Open include Cameron Carney, Kainan Coerin, Omar Elsayd, Nolan Francis, Parker Greene, Amir Haviv, Florent Janin, Griffin McKean, Samuel McKenzie, Dylan Nasser, Mazen Shoukri and former GCU standouts Daniil Antipov and Mark Nikolaev.
