WAC picks Daniel for weekly award

Da'jah Daniel of the Grand Canyon women's basketball team has been named the WAC Player of the Week.
The senior leader for the Lopes helped guide GCU to three victories last week, including the game-winning shot with less than a second remaining in a 58-57 win over UC Santa Barbara. For the week, Daniel averaged 10.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game with 65% shooting from the field.
Daniel started the week off with six points to go with 11 rebounds and three blocks in a 53-51 win at home against UNLV.
Against UCSB, she finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks with a last-second shot that gave GCU the win.
In her final game of the week, Daniel finished with 16 points and seven rebounds in 30 minutes against Whittier.
On the season, the senior leads the WAC in rebounding at 9.6 per game and blocks at 1.7 per game and is eighth in scoring at 12.6 points per game. She also has the second-best field goal percentage at 57.0%.
GCU is back in action on Sunday at California.
