For the first time in her career, Grand Canyon sophomore middle blocker
Annabelle Kubinski won the WAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Kubinski is the third Lope to be honored by the conference this season.
In an undefeated road weekend at Seattle U and Utah Valley, Kubinski led the WAC with an average of 2.17 blocks per set. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kubinski tallied 13 blocks last week to lead GCU en route to reaching the 20-win mark for the first time in head coach
Tim Nollan's tenure. GCU is one of 20 teams in the nation with 20 wins.
Kubinski tallied a career-high seven blocks in a three-set win at Seattle U while adding six more on Saturday at Utah Valley, where the Lopes won in straight sets. Kubinski's 2.17 average nearly tripled her blocks average of 0.75 entering the weekend.
Kubinski and the Lopes are home for four straight matches to close out the regular season, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday against UT Rio Grande Valley.
