PHOENIX - The Lopes returned home to play at the GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium on campus for the first time since March 10, playing host to Pac-12 foe Utah. GCU (12-16)Â stifled the Utes 4-1 on their way to a 6-4 record at home heading into Senior Weekend.

GCU got off to a fast start, winning the first four matches of the night in straight sets.

The No. 5 pairing of
Jessica Clark and
Jamie Walsh cruised to victory 21-17 and 21-14. The pair is finding success late in the season.

The No. 4 pairing did their job to give the Lopes a 2-0 advantage as
Katie Sarber and
Natalie Honzovicova downed their opponent handily in the first set, 21-9 before having to grind out the final set 23-21.

GCU kept cruising as the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings of
Bella Bauman and
Jessica Stansfield,
Madi Relaz and
Katie Pyles, respectively, handled their opponents. Bauman and Stansfield won their dual 21-16, 21-17 and Relaz and Pyles won their dual 21-15, 21-18.

Hannah Towne and
Molly Turner fell to Utah's top pair 17-21, 18-21.

The Lopes are back in action for Senior Day on Saturday, April 21 beginning at 9 a.m. as the Lopes face off against San Diego State's club team, followed by an 11 a.m. match with San Diego City College.
